Senior Project!
For my senior project, I chose to partner with Mercer Clinic for the Pets of the Homeless, located in Sacramento, California, serving the greater Sacramento underserved community. Mercer Clinic is partnered with Loaves and Fishes (Homeless Service Provider). Clients must be registered through Loaves and Fishes to prove they are homeless and meet confidential criteria. After they are registered, if they have an animal that needs veterinary care, Mercer Clinic provides free animal care such as vaccinations, surgeries, prescription, etc. Mercer is a non-profit organization that relies heavily on grants and donations. Therefore, I was determined to help since COVID-19 had a major impact on them financially. I fundraised through GoFundMe, Bonfire (Clothing Fundraising Company), and with donations. I reached out to over a hundred people to donate money and supplies to Mercer. With all my amazing supporters, I raised $2,700 with GoFundMe, $119.12 with Bonfire, and donated around twenty supplies. I was honored to volunteer in-person at Mercer Clinic by assisting the UC Davis Vet Students. During my time volunteering, I was able to interview two homeless clients. This was an incredible experience! After volunteering at Mercer, I was able to interview two doctors and the four head coordinators at Mercer. Due to COVID-19, I conducted these interviews over Zoom. All my interviews provided insight on Mercer and the human-animal bond in the homeless community. As my project came to an end, I reached out to all the people that participated in my project via email expressing my gratitude. This project couldn’t have been possible without all their help and support!

Hoopla 2020!
Leadership is in charge of Hoopla which is a homecoming for basketball that has a rally and prince and princess just like traditional homecoming. This is a black light rally which is a rally that most students look forward to. This is a performance based rally so the script is very cheesy and minor. |
Girl's Treat!
Leadership is in charge of the Girl's Treat Dance every year. This event involves creating a theme, having a budget, and getting student, parent, and faculty volunteers. I was the ASB officer in charge of this event. With my committee, we came up with Winter Wonderland for our theme. This was a great theme as it was the start of winter. We had an amazing amount of participation therefore it was a very successful dance/event. |
Homecoming!
Leadership is in charge of Homecoming every year. We decide the theme and create a script for the homecoming rally as well as the parade. This is one of our biggest events as a school and leadership class to plan all school year. I was honored to be an MC for the rally in 2019 and a co-host in 2018. |
Link Crew!
Leadership is in charge of Link Crew every year. Link Crew is a great way for freshmen to get a tour of the campus before school starts and to meet new people in their grade level. The upperclassmen (Juniors and Seniors) can volunteer to be a link crew leader after filling out an application that is reviewed by ASB and the activities director. All Link Crew leaders can match up with two or three people to create a theme and then get assigned to a group of ten to fifteen freshmen. Link Crew takes place in one day, approx. four hours team building and walking around campus with a lunch that follows. The Link Crew leaders are required to attend a day before of specific training of how to become a better leader. |
Registration!
Leadership is in charge of handing out ASB t-shirts and Dog Pound t-shirts that are purchased at the beginning of every school year. As an ASB member in 2019, I was in charge with my fellow ASB members to schedule our classmates with days and times of their work schedule to hand out t-shirts to those who purchased them. |
Leadership Training!
Leadership spends two to three day before school begins to focus on how to lead our school appropriately and successfully. Every leadership student has a council that is color coordinated and run by an ASB officer. Depending on what your position is in the class is how you are placed in councils. Every leadership training, we hold a volleyball tournament as a competitive, team bonding activity. I am proud to say my team is the reining champs for the past three years! ASB and the activities director is in charge of planning all events of these couple days of leadership training. It is a fun day and important to get to know your classmates that you spend everyday with inside and outside of class. |
Special Ed Luau!
One of my favorite community service events every year is the Special Ed Luau. Tracy High Leadership conducts this event for special ed students from high schools located in the Tracy area. I am so lucky to be a part of it. The luau’s purpose is to connect special ed students with our bulldog community. We open our arms to those in need and provide comfort and guidance to them throughout their high school journey. Seeing the love and laughter the special ed students receive from dancing and talking with our leadership class brings tears to my eyes. I am so appreciative that I am able to put on such a unique event. |
